Turmeric Maple Spice Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 (4-inch) cinnamon stick
  • 1 (3-inch) piece ginger, peeled and sliced
  • 1 (3-inch) piece turmeric root, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed dried red pepper

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium-high, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. 

  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute. Let cool. Strain through a fine sieve.

  3. Place in an airtight container and refrigerate. Add to coffee or tea with half and half, if desired.

Makes: 1 cup
