Food Processor White Bread
Ingredients
Recommended Hamilton Beach® Product:
Food Processor
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons (30 grams) sugar
- 1/3 cup (75 ml) hot water (105-110°F)
- 3 1/2 cups (438 grams) all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tablespoons (23 grams) cold butter, cut into pieces
- 1 teaspoon (6 grams) salt
- ¾ cup (164 ml) cold water (70°F)
Directions
- Grease an 8x5-inch loaf pan. Set aside.
- In a 2-cup liquid measure, combine yeast and sugar. Add 1/3 cup hot water and stir until dissolved. Let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes.
- In the bowl of the food processor fitted with the dough blade, add flour, butter and salt. Process on HIGH until sifted, about 15 seconds.
- With the food processor running on HIGH, pour the yeast mixture in slowly, allowing it to absorb into the flour. Add cold water. Process until the dough cleans the sides of the bowl and forms a ball. If dough does not form a ball, add additional water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until dough forms a ball. Once a ball is formed, process on KNEAD or HIGH for 45 seconds.
- Place dough in a large greased bowl, turning to coat top of dough. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch dough down and shape into a loaf. Place loaf into the prepared pan. Brush with melted butter. Let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Heat oven to 350°F.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and loaf sounds hollow when tapped. Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.
Makes: 1 loaf (8 slices)
