Air Fryer Parmesan Fries
Ingredients
- 1 medium russet potato, scrubbed
- 1 tablespoon salt plus ¼ teaspoon, divided
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- ¼ teaspoon coarse black pepper
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Directions
For Air Fryer:
- Cut potato in ¼ x ¼- inch fries. Rinse the cut potato in cold water to remove starch. Cover with fresh cold water, add 1 tablespoon salt and stir until salt is dissolved. Refrigerate up to 2 days. Drain, rinse, and pat fries dry with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, combine fries, vegetable oil, remaining ¼ teaspoon salt, and black pepper. Toss until fries are evenly coated.
- In air fryer basket, arrange fries in a single layer. Set air fryer temperature on 400°F.
- Shaking basket every 5 minutes, cook until fries are golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Sprinkle fries with Parmesan cheese and parsley.
For Air Fryer Toaster Oven:
- Cut potato in ¼ x ¼- inch fries. Rinse the fries in cold water to remove starch. Cover with fresh cold water, add 1 tablespoon salt and stir until salt is dissolved. Refrigerate up to 2 days. Drain, rinse, and pat fries dry with paper towels.
- Preheat Toaster Oven on Air Fry to 450°F.
- In a large bowl, combine fries, vegetable oil, remaining ¼ teaspoon salt, and black pepper. Toss until fries are evenly coated.
- In air fryer basket, arrange fries in a single layer. Place basket on bake/broil pan.
- Slide pan into upper rack position. Turning halfway through, cook 15 to 17 minutes or until fries are golden brown.
- Sprinkle fries with Parmesan cheese and parsley.

Test Kitchen Tip: Choose a good potato for frying. Russet potatoes are recommended due to their high starch content. They hold their shape and make a crispy fry. The oval shape of the russet is good for making long French or steak fries.
