Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, sliced 
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 3 pounds thinly sliced boneless beef chuck (thin slices are preferred, if not, you can cut into bite size pieces) 
  • 1 1/2 cups water 
  • 1/2 cup mirin 
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce 
  • 1/2 cup sugar 
  • 1/2 tablespoon packed dashi powder (fish broth powder) 
  • Cooked rice 
  • Boiled eggs 
  • Sliced green onions 

Directions

  1. Add onion, ginger, beef, water, mirin, soy sauce, sugar, and dashi powder to slow cooker crock.  
  2. Cover slow cooker and cook on LOW for 2 hours or until beef is tender.  
  3. Stir mixture before serving.  
  4. Serve with rice, boiled egg and green onions, if desired. 

Makes: 12-15 servings
