22602 Toaster Recall

Hamilton Beach Brands Announce Recall of Model 22602 Toasters

Model 22602

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hamilton Beach Brands is voluntarily recalling about 14,000 model 22602 toasters. When the toasters are first plugged into the outlets, the heating element can be energized although the toaster lifter is in the up or off position, which can pose a fire hazard if the toaster is near flammable items.

The Hamilton Beach recall involves model 22602 toasters, with series codes beginning with the letter D, in the format of DXXXXBI, where XXXX is a four-digit number. The model number and series code are printed on the bottom of the toaster. The toaster has a chromed steel exterior, a front control panel with a rotary toast shade selector and function buttons arranged in an arc, a front removable crumb tray and Hamilton Beach printed across the front of the toaster.

The toasters were sold by various retailers nationwide from August 2011 through November 2011 for between $19 and $34.

If your toaster is recalled, immediately stop using it. When you receive your replacement toaster in about 2 weeks, you will be asked to return the plug from the recalled toaster in a prepaid envelope accompanying the replacement toaster. Safely dispose of the recalled toaster. Do not sell it or give it away.

To determine whether your toaster is subject to this recall, Contact Us. If you prefer, call Hamilton Beach toll free at 1.800.672.5872 from 8AM to 4 PM Eastern, Monday through Friday for instructions on whether your toaster is part of the recall.
