We are seeking qualified Quality Engineering candidates to work with some of the best product teams in our industry.  HBB’s product teams are responsible for developing innovative products from ideation through to launch of the product.  This Quality Engineer will monitor, identify, and initiate corrective actions during new product development and throughout a product's manufacturing life that will reduce defects or other causes of returns and/or increase consumer satisfaction.  The Quality Engineer will find root causes of defects in returns and drive corrective actions with suppliers and Product Engineering to reduce or eliminate those defects. 

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Improves product quality by performing failure mode analysis on defective returns and available consumer data; determining root cause and driving to corrective actions; prepare and present findings to internal and external groups.
  • Analyzes supplier quality data for performance trends and early warning signs.
  • Conducts returns review and analysis.
  • Develops and presents product market quality performance reports to a diverse audience of stakeholders
  • Provide input to product development teams regarding manufacturability of product design
  • Conduct field tests, summarize results and recommend product improvements
  • Develops and maintains new product inspection protocols
  • Work with Project Engineers to determine performance specs
  • Ensure product use & care documents and graphics meet consumers’ expectations
  • Provide guidance and direction to support production of quality product

Basic Qualifications: 

  • BSME or BSEE is required, Masters in Engineering or Business desired
  • At least 5 years of total experience as Design/Product/Project/Quality Engineer with at least 3 of those years as a Quality Engr
  • Must be well-versed in continual/continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and/or Lean Six Sigma. Green Belt, Black Belt, ASQ certification(s) preferred.
  • Education or training in statistical tools including X-Bar charts, run charts, X-Y charts 5W, variations, histograms, DOE, etc.
  • Excellent analytical and data analysis skills.
  • Must have demonstrated outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have proven abilities as a self-starter with proven accomplishments and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to work effectively with Asian suppliers
  • Must have demonstrated an above average ability to participate in a team environment
  • Will have shown the ability to manage multiple projects at once
