We are seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Product Manager opportunity with the commercial food service team at our Corporate Headquarters in Glen Allen, Virginia. The Assistant Product Manager will assist in overseeing multiple commercial food prep and/or beverage prep categories from the point of identification of new projects through the execution of the product development process. 

Responsibilities of the position include: 

  • Manage the day-to-day operations for assigned categories
  • Understand the competitive landscape, including pricing, products, strategies, suppliers, dealer presence and product merchandising (packaging & POP)
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams to create and develop new products (work with US and international suppliers/manufacturers)
  • Create and develop customer preferred products by targeting unmet user needs
  • Assist team leaders during development of category strategies

Requirements of the position include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field; an MBA is preferred
  • 2-4 years relevant experience in product marketing and development
  • Proven abilities to be creative, results-driven and highly energetic
  • Experience with sales-team interactions, dealer visits, and customer calls
  • Strategic thinker
  • Proven ability to analyze financial information and other relevant business metrics
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint & Excel; Adobe suite & ERP systems experience is a plus
  • Ability to travel, about 10%

The successful candidate will be a creative, results driven self-starter with a strong work ethic, excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills, and will have demonstrated the ability to work independently and use good judgment.  Local candidates are highly preferred, as are those with exposure to the food service industry or the culinary world.
