We are seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Manager opportunity at our Southern Pines, North Carolina Returns Center location.  With direction from the Facilities Manager, the Assistant Manager will provide supervision in assigned area of responsibility for sustainability and reclamation efforts related to processing product returns from retailers.  These efforts include returns receiving, processing, Factory Recertification, New Goods Recovery and Materials Recovery.  Maintains departmental performance objectives, which include to schedule, supervise, and provide the necessary supplies for the various areas to meet budget and performance goals and to maintain the flow of effective data to support the quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities of the position include:  

  • Oversees daily activities of Returns Receiving and Processing, Factory Recertification Line (FRC), New Goods Processing, and Materials Recovery, through Facilities Manager; to ensure department is meeting financial and performance objectives, accuracy, and conformance to company standards.
  • Coordinates with other departments both locally and at Corporate Headquarters in Richmond, VA daily regarding customer needs (i.e., Quality, Engineering, Inbound Freight Carriers) to ensure customer service excellence.  This includes:
    • Having return ready and staged for Quality and Product Development Engineers’ visits to Southern Pines to conduct detailed returns analyses.
    • Managing the inbound freight activity direct from retailers, consumers and freight carriers to ensure trucks can be unloaded and staged.
    • Managing returns receiving to ensure credits to retailers are timely and accurate.
  • Allocates resources to meet the need of the Factory Services department which includes activities such as maximizing the efficient operation of the Factory ReCertified production line.
  • Manage documentation, work instructions and processes within the department to ensure compliance with HBB requirements and the integrity of data.
  • Ensure that Factory ReCertified products meet specified quality standards.

Requirements of the Position Include:

  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Industrial Management or related field; or equivalent Manufacturing Operations experience.  A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • 2-5 years Supervisory Experience in Manufacturing Operations.
  • Demonstrated analytical and reasoning skills to support operations including hands on support when required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement tools and techniques.  A Six Sigma Green Belt certification is considered a plus.
  • A history that supports a self-driven, results-oriented individual with clear focus on high quality.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office and WMS software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
